FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is SomeHoo?
SomeHoo is a fresh new social media and web homepage and directory service. It allows anyone to create a slick homepage, what we call a "footprint" page, and let’sindividuals and businesses create a center for their brand and social media & online presence in one place. Think of it as the phone book of the future, for social media and the web - a place to make your presence known.
Subscribers can create a custom "footprint" that quickly and easily links to their web sites, social media services, email addresses, etc. Other's will be able to view your public footprint or find you based on keywords, tags, or through your social media and email addresses. Publish exactly the information you want other's to see. Set up separate personal, professional, and business profiles to maximize your exposure.
SomeHoo also allows you to manage other information privately, behind the scenes and makes it easy to access that information from the web or even your mobile phone. Plus there’s lots more to come in future releases!
Why should I sign up for membership?
SomeHoo not only lets you quickly and easily create a cool footprint page like this one, but we help you advertise and publicize your online presence, services, business, organization, or yourself. Let's face it, you want to be seen and heard on the web. But how will other's find you? SomeHoo provides the answer. Now people will be able to easily discover all that you do. Make your personal footprint page your homepage on social media sites and other's will be able to quickly link to and discover all of your social media and web sites. Besides, why not? It’s free advertising after all.
How much does it cost?
Joining and using SomeHoo is absolutely free. Basic membership will always remain free of charge. We do plan to offer future business and premium services that may require a paid subscription. We will notify subscribers about any changes and these exciting new services in advance, so be sure to sign up to receive our updates in your account settings!
What sets SomeHoo apart from other sites?
That's easy - with SomeHoo, we put YOU in charge of exactly what you want other's to know about you or your business. We give you full control over the content that you publish in your footprint (public profile). We take privacy very seriously and want you to be in charge. You own your personal information and we make it easy for you to separate the public from the private.
How does it work?
It's really simple. First, register your Hoo by creating a new account in our New User Registration area. You'll create a private account profile with your unique username and email address - just between us. Next we'll email you a password and then you'll be able to log into the site. Next, take 5 minutes to walk through our 5-step wizard and create your public profile - what we call your "footprint". That’s all it takes to create your own, personalized footprint page like Andrea Kramer did.
Who can use SomeHoo?
SomeHoo is designed to be a global social media directory. We welcome businesses, organizations, and individuals from across the World (although we currently only offer an English language version). Generally, anyone over the age of 13 is welcome to register and use our services.
What information can I publish?
You can include pretty much whatever information you like. All your information takes on the form of tags and links. Your interests and hobbies, professional services you offer, places you work(ed), schools you attend(ed), addresses and locations, and of course all of your social media and web links as well as email addresses and even locations or phone numbers you'd like to publish. Naturally we do not allow inappropriate, illegal, or offensive content and violators accounts will be suspended without notice. For more details, please refer to our Terms of Service.
What if I only want to find people or businesses?
That's okay too. On the home page you will be able to search our site. Please note that this feature will NOT be available during our BETA phase. Visitors can find published subscribers based on their public profile information including URL/web address, social media sites and usernames, and even email addresses and phone numbers. With SomeHoo, the subscribers are in charge of how they are listed, but chances are you will find more useful links and information about them here.
Can I create multiple profiles?
Yes, we encourage you to set up profiles for yourself, your business or organization, even your family if you wish; however your username and the email address used for registration must be unique so we can manage accounts properly.
Can I remove my footprint?
Yes, you'll be able to hide your account and public profile at any time. Check your account settings page to hide or unhide your public hoo and footprint instantly.
I registered but my password hasn't arrived!
First, please check your spam or junk mail folder along with any other software, such as McAfee or Norton, that may be filtering your email. It's also possible that your Internet Service Provider may be blocking our emails. Try resending your password using the forgotten password page. If all else fails, please report the problem to us via the Technical Support Page and we'll do our best to help.
What if I run into other technical issues or need support?
We work hard to keep our site operating smoothly, but nobody's perfect. We certainly apologize in advance if you experience any technical difficulties with our site. Keep in mind that we are currently still in Beta. Please make sure you have a current version of Java installed in your browser. Also, try using a current, popular browser like Internet Explorer 8 or Firefox 3. If you do run into trouble, please report your issue to us using our Technical Support Page.
Is my information secure?
Most of the information you provide on our website is public - that's the point of SomeHoo after all. Nonetheless, we take data security very seriously and make every effort to keep your account and private information safe. Passwords are encrypted and our site is designed to be secure and easy to use. We'll also be adding even more robust security as we make more advanced features available in the future.
What if I come across inappropriate, illegal, or offensive content?
Unfortunately SPAM and abuse are an issue across the web, and we rely heavily on our users to report them. Therefore, if you discover inappropriate, illegal, or offensive content others have posted in their public profile, please use the "Report Abuse" link on the upper right hand corner of the user's profile page. All it takes is two clicks! For more details on what defines abuse or prohibited content, please refer to our Terms of Service.
Is SomeHoo interested in partnerships?
Yes, we would love to hear about any serious partnership opportunities. At this time we are especially interested in link sharing with reputable sites, integrating with other social media sites, and potential investors or financial partners.
